Casa Santa Eulália 'Plainas' Azal & Arinto White 2022 - The Green Wine

Our Commitment

Great Wines, Great Responsibility

Whilst traveling the Vinho Verde, we were so encouraged to see so many different types of winemakers in what is typically a very traditional industry.

Our exclusive winemakers inspire us - As a gay couple ourselves who owns a wine business, we are proud to intertwine our passion for Portuguese wine with our commitment to LGBTQ+ rights.

We hope that by using our platform as gay business owners, that our visibility will inspire others in the wine industry & beyond to embrace unity & acceptance.

Let our small business be a testament to the power of love & the importance of standing up for what is right, each & every day!

Now everybody say ‘LOVE!’…and wine!

Changing The Game

Nasty Vs. Natural

Bottom line, our wines are just better. Here's why...

There’s nothing easier than grabbing a cheap bottle of wine from the store - but have you ever wondered how mass-produced wines are made?

Unfortunately, none of the ingredients of wines are required by the FDA to appear on the label, which can sometimes lead to some shady practices in winemaking.

Unlike mass-produced wines, we promise artisanal wine that is made from high quality grapes, from producers with low-intervention wine-making methods & green farming practices - so next time, choose us and not them!

Why Mass-Produced Wines Are Bad

Mass-produced wines use low quality & unripe grapes to fill demand, and that's just the begining of it...

Farming

Mass-producers use chemical pesticides, which at the least, distort & taint the flavor of the wine, and at the worst, are extremely bad for you and the environment.

Harvesting

Mass-producers use large machines to harvest, removing every single grape, including rotten & unripe grapes. They are then crammed into large containers & sprayed with chemicals to prevent oxidation.

Vinification

75 legal compounds are used to enhance color, flavor & texture - including milk, egg whites & fish bladders - plus added sugar, which is the main culprit for hangovers!

Bottling

Grape juice can be transported vast distances - even to different countries - to be bottled, so increased amounts of preservatives, like sulphites are added.

Our Commitment To

Who We Work With

A wine is considered dry when it has very little to no residual sugar left after fermentation – put simply, the yeast have eaten all of the sugar in the grape juice and turned it in to alcohol!

Our Vinho Verde wines are naturally very low in sugar in fact, most of the wines have less than 1.5g/L – and that’s not from any tampering, that’s from the natural process of fermentation with high quality grapes.

Now, not only is less sugar obviously better for you, but when a wine has low residual sugar, it is a great indicator of a very good quality wine.

Why? Because means that the grapes are of such good quality that the wine does not require sweetness to taste fruity!

Cheaper, mass-produced wines are much higher in residual sugar - usually due to the fact that they use poor-quality and/or unripen grapes in order to meet their massive demands – so in order to mask the sour, flavorless wine they produce, they add sugar.

And this, my friends, is the main source of hangovers!
